Listen Now: Zoom Hackers: How The COVID-19 Essential Is Fighting Back

[xyz-ips snippet=”post-thumb-url”]

The world has a new way to connect… and now it has a new security system.

In the past few weeks, the company Zoom has become the go-to destination for conference calls, work meetings and happy hours with friends. But while Zoom became the answer to problems, a new one popped up.

Those folks using Zoom reported their calls being hacked. Someone or a group of someones were hacking into the calls and taking over the screens. In some cases, it was harmless material but in others, people reported seeing pornographic and offensive material.

Now Zoom is ramping up its security with two big changes. The first is that meetings will now have a waiting room and participants will need to be added by the organizer. Zoom will also require a password as well as a meeting id. This will shut down hackers who have been guessing meeting id’s and popping up when they aren’t wanted.

But the added security will be a downside for some users who like how easy Zoom is. You just have to figure out whether you prefer convenience or privacy.
