There’s a holiday bonus, and then there’s a free house. I’m Brian Banmiller on Business.

In order to find new workers or keep the workers they already have, many companies are offering incentives. Things such as sports tickets, extra vacation or more money. But one company in Florida is taking the game a step further with a free house. The company is called Mechanical One and it provides air conditioning and plumbing for new developments. Recently it bought two lots, each for a three-bedroom, two-bath home. The company’s CEO says he wanted to give away something workers would really appreciate and enjoy. And since a lot of employees rent, he figured a home was the way to go. To qualify for the drawing, employees must be with the company for a full year and take a financial literacy class, paid for by the company. They must also perform 20 hours of community service at a nonprofit of their choosing. The company only began operating in July so right now none of the employees qualify. This gives them plenty of time to fulfill the other requirements. And start buying furniture. Brian Banmiller, CBS News.
