Some of the world’s richest women are famous, but they aren’t actually the richest women. I’m Brian Banmiller on Business.
We hear a lot about Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, and Bill Gates and how much money they have. But turns out, there are lots of wealthy women out there as well. And in some cases, they have a bigger bottom line than well-known businessmen. For example, Jacqueline Mars. She inherited the Mars Incorporated company which makes brands such as M&M’s and Pedigree dog food. She’s worth more than $30 billion. Then there’s Mackenzie Scott, ex wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. Since the divorce she is worth more than $40 billion. And that’s after donating $12 billion to various charities. Just a few years ago, Alice Walton was the richest woman in the world. But after inheriting a 50% stake in Walmart, when the company’s stock drops so does your worth. Still almost $60 billion is nothing to turn your nose up at. The richest woman in the world inherited the L’Oreal brand to the tune of $74 billion. Move over men. Brian Banmiller, CBS News.
