People text to avoid a phone call and email to avoid video chat, but in some cases, you should just turn on the camera. I’m Brian Banmiller on Business.

There are many ways to quickly communicate at work; Teams, Slack, email, just to name a few. These allow you to quickly ask and answer questions and get on with your day. But according to Fast Company there are some times when it’s better to hop onto a video chat. For example, when face-to-face connection is necessary. Emotions, body language and tone can be lost in written communication. Sometimes you need to make sure the person understands the importance of what you’re saying and eye contact is essential for that. Be clear with your message.  Or maybe you need to centralize information sharing. Multiple people on a chat trying to keep up with all the messages is an excellent way to miss something. If you need to give directions to a large group, do it on video call. For three more reasons to schedule a meeting go to BanmillerOnBusiness.com. Don’t forget to unmute. Brian Banmiller, CBS News.
