Underground Bars and Restaurants Surface Amid Corona

People are being told to stay inside, and in some cases it’s by law.

Bars and restaurants are being told to shut down and only operate by delivery or take-out. So, it’s no surprise some underground operations are popping up to take their place.

Unfortunately, crowds in a small place are frowned upon by states and the federal government, and that means some wanna-be entrepreneurs are winding up behind bars. For example, A mother and son were busted in the basement of a restaurant in the Bronx in New York. Police say they had about two dozen people partying in the underground club.

Not far away a restaurant in Queens lost its liquor license after cops found them letting dozens of customers in through an alley door. The people who own that restaurant said the only people inside were employees working but the cops didn’t buy it. So the two were arrested on multiple charges, given a ticket to appear and released.

A third person was given a summons. Losing business during this time will cost them but so will bail and legal fees.
