Heading to Europe, might want to avoid going through London. I’m Brian Banmiller on Business.

London’s Heathrow Airport is apologizing to travelers who have been dealing with staff shortages, long lines, and delays. But here’s the kicker, it’s also admitting things might get worse before they get better. To help alleviate the passengers’ stress, the airport is telling airlines to cut more flights from their summer schedules as the chaos continues. How bad is it? Passengers going through Heathrow have reported hours long lines for security, delays in getting help for people with reduced mobility, and luggage going missing. In fact, there is a huge pile of unclaimed luggage in the arrivals terminal caused by a technical glitch in the system. The problem started back in the pandemic when the airport laid off pilots, cabin crews, check-in staff, ground crews and baggage handlers. with no one traveling, there wasn’t enough work to go around, now there’s too much. In response, Heathrow says it has started an intense recruitment program and hopes to get things back to pre-pandemic levels by the end of the summer. Until then, pack your patience.
