Florida is trying to get rid of an invasive species, and anyone can apply for the job. I’m Brian Banmiller on Business.

Florida governor Ron Desantis recently announced the state’s annual prize-winning hunt for Burmese pythons in the Florida everglades is a go. Set to begin on august 5th, the event usually draws hundreds of people from across the country. Last year, Desantis said more than 600 people from 25 states participated. To get your snake wrangling on, you must register online to participate and complete a training course. The hunt will last a few weeks and could be worth your time. Prizes include $2,500 for the most pythons captured and $1,500 for the longest snake. Last year, the first prize winner caught more than 200 pythons and the longest snake caught was more than 15 feet long. All snakes must be killed humanely. This year the state budget includes $3 million for the hunt. That includes sensors that can locate hard-to-see snakes in the wild. So, if you want to make some extra cash, and help preserve the everglades, go hunting. Brian Banmiller, CBS News.
