Pope Francis is going electric. I’m Brian Banmiller on Business.

Los Angeles based Fisker says it will supply the first pure electric Pope mobile. One of the company’s co-founders says he was inspired after reading Pope Francis is very considerate of the environment and concerned about the impact of climate change on future generations. So, the company is taking action. It will convert its all-electric ocean sport utility vehicle to be used for his Holiness. It will feature a retractable glass dome so everyone can view the pope. Plus, sustainable interior materials such as carpets which will be made of recycled plastic bottles from the ocean. Fisker says the ocean sports spacious interior will allow the Pope to have clear views of the crowd as he is transported through or near crowds. Production of the electric SUV is expected to start in November of next year, which is also when the Pope can expect to receive his model. While the company did not reveal the cost of the Pope’s modified vehicle, the Fisker’s ocean starts at just under thirty-eight thousand dollars. But he’ll probably get a discount.
