It’s one of the most well-known pieces in the world, and now the man behind it has passed. I’m Brian Banmiller on Business.

The charging bull sits below wall street in lower manhattan. Since it was illegally deposited there in nineteen eighty-nine it has become a symbol of New York’s financial hub and a tourist attraction. But most people don’t know its story. It was designed and built by a sculptor from Sicily.  With the u-s still hurting from black Monday he wanted to give our country a get-well present. Unfortunately, he did not have permission to deliver this present. But according to the wall street journal he didn’t let that stop him. For weeks he scouted out wall street for a prime location. Then on the morning of December fifteenth, he went to the stock exchange. In the spot, he picked out he found a Christmas tree. So, he left the bull under the tree. Unamused the city put it in a warehouse. A few days later he paid the fine and delivered it to its current residence, thirty-three years later it still stands tall. Brian Banmiller, CBS news.
