There’s a new blend of wine on the auction block, and it’s out of this world. I’m Brian Banmiller on Business.

A while ago I reported on an experiment to send twelve bottles of french wine into space. It was launched in November 2019 and spent more than a year in orbit aboard the international space station. When it returned it had been slightly altered, at least according to the lucky wine experts who sampled it. Now a bottle of the space wine is for sale at Christie’s auction house.  The price tag, one million dollars. The experiment was done by space cargo unlimited which is hoping to make plants on earth more resilient to climate change and disease. The wine being offered in the private sale comes with a decanter, glasses and true to theme a corkscrew crafted from a meteorite. It’s all packaged in a hand-crafted trunk with decorations inspired by the “Star Trek” universe.The buyer will also get a second bottle of the wine, except that this one never left our atmosphere. Proceeds will go to fund future research. And maybe future space cocktails? Brian Banmiller, CBS News.
