“Sell me this pen,” a simple statement some interviewers use that could make or break your chances for a job. They want to test your sales skills. But according to the job resource site Ladders.com, you can pull it off.
First ask the person you’re selling to what they do and how they will use the product. This information will give you some background to persuade them to pick up the pen. Ask when was the last time they used a pen. If they sign important papers have them imagine using this pen to sign them.
Highlight an emotional use for the pen by telling them a story about how you write the people closest to you handwritten notes, get them thinking about someone in their life they should reach out to. Then hand them back the pen and close the deal.
Use whatever they connected with to make the sale. Then use that pen to sign your offer.
