You might be good at your job, but are you respected? I’m Brian Banmiller on Business.

People want to make a difference in the world and want their families to be proud of them. That can influence what type of job they choose to do and how well they perform it. Recently Forbes looked into where respect in the workforce comes from, which jobs garner the most respect and how you can become more respected, no matter the job. For example, when it comes to respecting a profession, people look for one that involves caring for others, being trustworthy and being essential to society. Another interesting note, the factors at the bottom of the list for what earns respect: a high income, prestige, or power over others. So which jobs are the most respected and desired? According to Forbes it’s scientists, farmers and doctors. Also making the list, firefighters, teachers, nurses, and members of the military. And even if you don’t work in these professions, you can be respected at work. To find out how, go to BanmillerOnBusiness.com. And yes, respect does have to be earned. Brian Banmiller, CBS News.
