Ranking Airlines
Listen Now: Ranking Airlines
Booking a trip, you might want to take ratings into account. I’m Brian Banmiller on Business.
Every year the Wall Street Journal ranks the nine biggest U.S. airlines. It takes into consideration how each airline performs across seven categories, including on-time arrivals, canceled flights, extreme delays, tarmac waits longer than two hours, mishandled baggage, customers being bumped from flights and customer complaints. This year, one of the top performers found itself in the bottom spot. That unfortunate honor goes to JetBlue. The Wall Street Journal found that the airline had the highest rate of extreme delays and incidents where passengers were stuck on the tarmac for at least two hours. Recently there was a report of this happening at New York’s JFK airport where passengers had to take desperate measures to relieve themselves. But it wasn’t all bad, the company did have the fourth-fewest involuntary bumping and cancellations of passengers. Not bad considering how many flights have been halted by weather and staffing shortages. So, while JetBlue took the bottom spot, who came in at number one? To find out, go to BanmillerOnBusiness.com. Plan accordingly. Brian Banmiller, CBS News.
