CEO’s are desperate to get people back into the office, and one isn’t afraid to beg. I’m Brian Banmiller on Business.
Starbucks’ CEO Howard Schulz says he has been doing everything he can to get people back to the office but that it’s still not happening at the level he wants. At a recent New York Times deal book policy forum, he even said he will get on his knees and beg to get people back to work. But despite his frustration Schultz is not mandating corporate employees leave their home office. Instead, according to Business Insider, the company is offering flexible options for eligible, non-retail roles in the form of hybrid and remote positions. And the stance by Schultz to resist ordering people to return isn’t one being followed by some other CEO’s. For example, Tesla CEO Elon Musk has reportedly told his employees to return to the office or resign. He also tweeted that anyone against working in the office should pretend to work somewhere else. But regardless of what employers demand, the ball seems to be in the court of employees. And they’re playing anywhere they want. Brian Banmiller, CBS News.
