Ever feel like you’re a prisoner, test your theory. I’m Brian Banmiller on Business.
There’s a new jail opening in the Swiss city of Zurich and before inmates move in, the city is looking for volunteers to test it out. Yup, they’re looking for people to move into the jail willingly. You won’t have to pay or get paid to participate in this dress rehearsal of sorts and you will have to adopt the expected lifestyle. That means testing the food, going through the intake procedures and walking the yard. You won’t be allowed to bring cellphones or other electronic devices. And if you really want to test the experience, strip-searches upon entry are optional. If things get too real you can use the safe word everyone is given when arriving. This will lead to you being bailed out immediately. The test run will take place in late march. Volunteers must be at least 18 and live in the area. In addition to making sure things run smoothly, this is also meant to show people how prison guards operate. And maybe keep volunteers on the straight and narrow. Brian Banmiller, CBS News.
