Personalized Superheros
Listen Now: Personalized Superheros
Have you always wanted to be a superhero? Here’s your chance. No spider bite or magic powers required. I’m Brian Banmiller on Business.
Hasbro is partnering with 3D printing company Form Labs to launch its new “Selfie Series.” It allows people to create six-inch action figures of themselves. Here’s how it works. You scan your face and choose your desired figure with your very own hairstyle. Then you have the option of choosing from a variety of characters from movies such as Star Wars, Power Rangers, and Iron Man. Cult classics such as Ghostbusters and G.I. Joe are also options. The former labs CEO says its work with Hasbro continues to evolve to be at the forefront of innovation. He says while 3D printing has long been viewed as a prototyping tool this personalization platform demonstrates the manufacturing capabilities of the technology. The CEO says he has always loved making and personalizing things and this gives customers the chance to see themselves in a whole new light. Like the star of their own movie. The Hasbro “Selfie Series” will be available this fall for about 60 bucks each. Brian Banmiller, CBS News.
