There’s a new warning for some car owners, depending on where you park. I’m Brian Banmiller on Business.

Hyundai and Kia are recalling nearly 485,000 cars, all different models and years. And until the problem is fixed the companies are telling owners to park outdoors. That’s because the current problem can cause its cars to catch fire even if the engines have been turned off. It seems contamination in the anti-lock brake control module can cause an electrical short. This increases the risk of fire while the cars are being driven or parked. Obviously if parked in a garage in your home, a fire can cause a lot more damage. So far there have been reports of at least 11 fires starting this way, but no reported injuries. If you bring your car in, dealers will replace a fuse and inspect all the questionable parts and replace anything else if necessary. But until you get to the dealer there are some warning signs to consider. Things such as the anti-lock brake warning light coming on, the smell of something burning or smoke from the engine.
