Older Workers
Listen Now: Older Workers
The workforce is changing and some common misconceptions should change too. I’m Brian Banmiller on Business.
Whether it’s a desire to try something new, follow your dreams or make extra money, older people are coming back into the workforce. Or in some cases, they’re working longer to save for their golden years. But despite their enthusiasm to clock in, according to TheLadders.com their colleagues don’t feel the same way. In fact, ageism is one of the most common and rampant forms of employment discrimination today. So, to help put an end to it, TheLadders.com busted the five most common ageism myths out there. First, older workers don’t know how to use technology. Turns out, a lot of them do. And in some cases, they’re using it so well they have millions of followers and have turned it into a side gig. Another myth, older workers aren’t interested in a junior position. Everyone needs to start somewhere, even if it’s not your first time starting out. For more busted myths go to BanmillerOnBusiness.com. Age is definitely just a number. Brian Banmiller, CBS News.
