Work is meant to be an equal opportunity environment, but that wasn’t always the case. I’m Brian Banmiller on Business.

Over the years work has changed. And according to ladders.com that is for the better because there are a few things that would have made today’s working professionals call in sick. For example, smoking and drinking at work. Three-martini lunches used to be normal, most people had bottles of booze in their office and most days would start and end with a shot and a cigarette. Then there’s working women. Before World War II, women clocked in as nurses and teachers. But when men went to war women went to factories. In many cases those women were judged for not being home with children, an issue that is still debated today. In the early nineteen sixties secretarial schools were a thing. Women would learn skills to give them a foot in the door. Over the years they evolved into an icon and then a homewrecker. For the two most cringe worthy office habits go to BanmillerOnBusiness.com. Some things just don’t age well. Brian Banmiller, CBS News.
