In one Louisiana town, No Shave November is getting a permanent extension. I’m Brian Banmiller on Business.

Every year a number of organizations or individuals participate in “No Shave November.” an event where men grow beards for a month, with the idea they will raise money or donate to cancer research and awareness. The idea proved so popular and plentiful with law enforcement in one Louisiana town, the fundraiser will now be known as “No Shave Forever.” in addition to the men being able to grow a beard whenever they feel like it, all employees will be able to dress more casually on Fridays if their jobs allow it. The sheriff’s office says traditionally many law enforcement agencies allow a mustache but no beard. But he says the public is reacting positively and employees enjoy it so why not keep the tradition? Plus, it helps a lot of other people. During the last No Shave November, employees raised almost $300,000 for the American Cancer Society and $1,200 for the Special Olympics. They can also choose other nonprofit groups for donations.
