Listen Now: Qantas To Launch New York To Sydney Direct Flights By 2023
[xyz-ips snippet=”post-thumb-url”]Everyone loves a vacation, but one airline is testing your limits in getting there.
Qantas is testing a nonstop, nineteen-hour flight from both New York and London to Sydney. This would be the world’s longest nonstop flight and the first ever-direct commercial flight between New York and Sydney.
The experiment was cooked up when Qantas realized it would have to fly its new Boeing 787-9 aircraft from North America to australia. But instead of flying from the Boeing plant in Seattle it decided to make the longer jump and test a flight it hopes to work into its schedule by 2023.
The airline says with new technology it believes it has the ability to make the long haul. Test flights are scheduled to run October through December and will include passengers. Part of such a long flight is making sure the human body can withstand it; so medical experts will be on board to keep an eye on the subjects.
I wonder if they will also be testing traveler’s mental capacity, since there’s only so many in-flight movies a person can watch.
