It’s one thing to share your displeasure with a company, it’s another for that company to retaliate. I’m Brian Banmiller on Business.
A former executive at eBay has become the last one time employee to plead guilty in a cyberstalking case. Six others have also entered guilty pleas for their roles in targeting a Massachusetts couple. A couple who published a newsletter called E-Commerce Bytes, which these executives saw as critical of their company. So, they did something about it, including sending things such as a box of live cockroaches, a funeral wreath and books about losing a spouse to the couple’s home. Prosecutors say they also set up fake social media accounts to send threatening messages to the couple and posted their address online. The police say it started when the couple posted an article about a lawsuit filed by eBay accusing Amazon of poaching its sellers. That’s when the executives began holding meetings and plotting their revenge. Even going so far as to make plans to break into the couple’s home and put a GPS on their car.
