MIDDLE EARTH IS RELOCATING. I’M BRIAN BANMILLER ON BUSINESS

Amazon Studios has confirmed that its new Lord Of The Rings television series will move from New Zealand to the U-K. The TV show is set thousands of years before the events in the best-selling books. Those books made into movies were filmed in New Zealand. Season one of this new series was also filmed down under. The studio says the location shift was part of the original plan. It said it always also wanted to expand production space and consolidate its footprint in the U-K. The change in scenery comes with a hefty price tag. Amazon had already spent more than four hundred and sixty million dollars on the show’s first season. The U-K culture secretary is welcoming the announcement, saying thousands of high-quality jobs will be created and supported by the new series and the opposite is true for New Zealand. The country’s economic development minister expressing disappointment, saying the project had created a lot of local jobs and work for local businesses hurting because of the pandemic.
