Have a job offer, but hoping for another? Here’s how to keep them both on the line.
When people look for a job, they send their resume to multiple companies and go on multiple interviews. In some cases, this could land you in a sticky situation. An offer on the table and the potential for your dream job to come through.
But according to Forbes magazine, there’s a way to stall one company while waiting for the offer you really want. First, all negotiating should be done on the phone or in person. This way you can see the other person’s reaction and have a better idea of how its’ going.
The next step is to confirm timelines with all companies involved. When does your first choice expect to have a decision? When does your second choice need an answer? This gives you an idea of how much time you have to work with and might ease up the pressure.
