Looking for a job in Philadelphia, there is one requirement you no longer have to meet. I’m Brian Banmiller on Business.

A new law now in effect in Philadelphia prohibits many employers from testing job applicants for marijuana. However, the bill does not regulate testing of current employees and doesn’t stop companies from disciplining workers under the influence on the job. But it also depends on the job you’re applying for. People applying for positions in law enforcement, childcare or jobs that require a commercial driver’s license can still be required to submit to a marijuana test. According to the Philly Voice, the measure was introduced by a city council member who was inspired by people who use medical marijuana and struggle to find work over testing requirements. This is not the first time the city has passed a law changing the interview process. According to the Philly Voice a law passed in 2017 prohibits employers from asking someone their salary history. A lawsuit was filed from some businesses but the city prevailed and the law went into effect last year. We’ll see if the pattern repeats. Brian Banmiller, CBS News.
