She’s the oldest lobster fisher in Maine, with no plans on hanging up her traps. I’m Brian Banmiller on Business.

When she was just eight years old, Virginia Oliver began trapping lobsters. At the time, world war two was still ten years away and traffic lights were a new invention. Now she is one hundred and one years old and still happily at it. Using a boat that bears her own name she gets up long before dawn and sets out to check her traps. She says when she began, lobsters brought in twenty-eight cents a pound on the docks.  Now it’s fifteen times that. Wire traps have replaced the old wooden ones she loved. These days, those are mainly used as decorations for seafood restaurants across the country. but some things are the same. She says she still uses the same small fish to lure the lobsters into the traps. And she makes herself a lobster dinner at least one a week. Her only real injury, when a crab snipped her finger requiring seven stitches. But she’s not ready to quit, especially when it doesn’t feel like work. Brian Banmiller, CBS News.
