The final western social media site in China is being shown the door. I’m Brian Banmiller on Business.

For the past seven years LinkedIn has been the only U.S. social networking site still operating in china. But now, like all sites before it, LinkedIn is no more. The change comes after Microsoft, which bought the company in 2016 said it was pulling out because of a challenging operating environment. It will be replaced by a job posting site called in-jobs. A site without a social media feed or capability for sharing content. And a lot of users are feeling the loss. LinkedIn has more than 54 million users in China, the second largest market after the U.S. and a lot of them are feeling the loss. One person says he has found two jobs through LinkedIn and considers it the best way to keep in touch with colleagues working in other countries. There will be an international version of the site available but will include a few more hoops to jump over. At least until it too falls under the same censorship guidelines as all the sites before it. Brian Banmiller, CBS News.
