One of the best artists of the twentieth century is going high tech. I’m Brian Banmiller on Business.
The granddaughter and great grandson of Pablo Picasso are taking one of his never-before-seen works of art and turning it into an NFT. An NFT or non-fungible token is a digital certificate of authenticity that can be attached to digital art or anything that comes in digital form. This includes audio files, video clips, even a news article posted online. In this case Picasso’s family members want to make more than 1,000 digital copies of his work. In an exclusive Associated Press interview, they say this could mark the entry of a grand master into the crypto game. And this would bridge the NFT world and the fine art world, and hopefully create a younger community of Picasso fans. For now, they are keeping the future nft art a secret, just giving the AP a sneak peak of the underside of a ceramic piece. Picasso’s granddaughter says it was created in 1958 and is one of his cherished pottery pieces. But you can’t hang it up. Brian Banmiller, CBS News.
