One of New York’s most famous attractions can now get you college credit. I’m Brian Banmiller on Business.
The Radio City Rockettes are a precision dance team that has performed at New York’s radio city music hall over the holidays for decades. The group is known for their high kicks and precision technique based on tap, ballet, and jazz. Now, the Boston Conservatory at Berklee College is offering the first-for-credit college dance class taught by the group. It focuses on technique in addition to teaching strength training, choreography and lessons that can be applied to many dance techniques. And no surprise, the class is one of the most popular offered at the performing arts school. Slots filled up fast and while enrollment had been capped at thirty students, they ended up allowing 38 to participate. Students say in addition to perfecting their skills they get a sense of what it would take to be a Rockette. The team rehearses six hours per day, six days a week, which means you really need to love working in a group environment. A good thing to find out about yourself early on. Brian Banmiller, CBS news.
