Everyone wants to retire with enough money to enjoy their golden years. But it’s not going to just magically appear. And starting to plan when you’re later in life isn’t going to cut it. So if you want to retire with enough funds to live the life you want, Business Insider has five golden rules that are a good idea to start following now. For example, and this is probably a good one for life in general. Spend less than you earn. Financial planners say you can’t out-earn bad spending habits. Even a family that earns a million dollars a year is still broke if they spend 1.1 million a year. And set aside something every month for down the road. Your future self will thank you. Next, take advantage of employment retirement plans. Invest in the company’s 401k or 403b plan. And make sure you are contributing enough to get any employer’s matching contributions.
