Four Little Words
Listen Now: Four Little Words
Being a leader is hard, the decisions you make can have a huge impact, and so can what you say. I’m Brian Banmiller on Business.
According to In.com, one of the hardest parts about leading people is they don’t always do what you expect them to do. Whether it’s because they don’t understand the assignment or they just don’t want to do it, the refusal to complete it can be very frustrating. It’s times like these when it can be very easy to play the “I’m the boss” card. And that can lead to four words Inc.com reports a good leader should never say. Those four words, “Because, I said so.” Managers everywhere have said those words. Sometimes they sound a little different. Something like “We’re going to do it my way” or “I hear what you’re saying, but I’m in charge of this project.” The thing is, if you’re leading people and you can’t think of a better reason for them to do something than simply because you told them too, you probably shouldn’t be boss. And you should probably expand your vocabulary. Brian Banmiller, CBS News.
