Rescued dogs in Rio are putting their second chance at life to a good cause. I’m Brian Banmiller on Business.
A few years ago a small brown dog showed up at a police station on Rio’s Governador Island. One officer began giving him food and water and nursing him back to health. Now he lives at the police station and has his own instagram profile with more than 45,000 followers. His profile pictures include him in his trademark police uniform, standing on top of police cars or sticking his head out the window of a police car while on patrol. About 12 miles away another dog has been living at a fire house after fire fighters found him injured and nursed him back to health. Now he has his own online presence with almost 30,000 followers. And he is using his newfound fame to draw attention to a wide range of causes. He has encouraged donations for victims of natural disasters and promoted awareness around cancer. He has also helped other rescue animals find new homes. All the officers have to do is keep posting pictures. Brian Banmiller, CBS News.
