There’s no shortage of advice in the world, but that doesn’t mean you have to take it. I’m Brian Banmiller on Business.

According to Fast Company it can be overwhelming to shift through all the leadership advice you might be getting from your managers. But there is a surefire way to tell if someone is a bad leader, they give you unnecessary busy work, mundane tasks that have little to do with your actual job. And instead of getting actual work done you’re now wasting time and your motivation. So, how can you tell if someone is worth listening to? According to Fast Company a good leader is not afraid to be themselves. No one is perfect but as long as you’re present and paying attention, the people who work for you will respect you. Plus, if you’re not afraid to make a mistake they can learn through that. Be responsive, know there is no overall playbook and each employee responds in a different way. This means fine tuning your approach for each of your employees. And they’ll be able to better appreciate your words of wisdom. Brian Banmiller, CBS News.
