A German ice cream parlor is expanding its menu to bugs. I’m Brian Banmiller on Business.

An ice cream store in Southern Germany has earned a reputation for serving up flavors you wouldn’t normally find. Forget strawberry, vanilla, or chocolate. Instead, the place is known for offering up liver sausage ice cream and gorgonzola cheese ice cream. It’s even serving gold-plated ice cream at almost $5 a scoop. But the creativity doesn’t end there. Now the owner says there are still a lot of things he wants to try and topping that list is cricket.  And he’s getting his chance. Thanks to a new European Union regulation, crickets can now be frozen, dried or used as a powder. So, the new flavor of ice cream is made with cricket flour, heavy cream, vanilla extract, and honey. Then it’s topped with dried whole crickets. The owner says some people are disgusted with the flavor but a lot of them are intrigued to try it. Even going so far as to give them a positive review, calling it very tasty and edible. So, one scoop or two? Brian Banmiller, CBS News.
