One of the country’s most iconic boardwalks is getting a revamp. I’m Brian Banmiller on Business.
Coney Island, home to a well-known hot dog eating contest, is getting three new attractions and more pedestrian areas. Two of the rides are a roller coaster and a log ride, both designed to pay homage to some of the country’s first rides ever, which opened back in the late 1800s. The final new attraction is a 50-foot ropes course. And the park will be expanded by 50% by using land vacant for almost a century. The park is operated by central amusement international which has been involved in circuses, carnivals and amusement parks for generations. The area of the park that is being made over is called Luna Park. In the 1940s it was destroyed by a fire and then sold. When central amusement international took over it began constructing the new Luna Park and this is just the latest expansion. Right now, the new attractions are still under construction but the owners hope it will be open for the public to enjoy in the next few weeks. Brian Banmiller, CBS News.
