Emojis are still appropriate to use at work but use them wisely. I’m Brian Banmiller on Business.

There are more than 3,000 emojis in existence and while not all of them are still cool, most of them are still in use. Whether in your Slack channel, Teams chat or email, emojis are the go-to way to express an emotion without using actual words. But which ones are appropriate and which should you stop sending? To answer those questions, the Fast Company surveyed 1,000 employees about emojis and how to use them. Three out of four surveyed believe emojis have improved their communication in the workplace. The most accepted emoji was the thumbs up, while the least accepted was the face blowing a kiss. About 45% of people feel comfortable using emojis when communicating with their bosses. And older workers are more likely to misunderstand what the symbols mean. And some of the emojis that people don’t always get? The folded hands, the face with tears of joy and the loudly crying face. Maybe it’s best to just stick with the classics, such as a smiley face. Brian Banmiller, CBS News.
