Almost every job has busy work, but some people might be shouldering more of it. I’m Brian Banmiller on Business.

Recently a group of women, all professors and high-level administrators at universities realized they were doing a lot of busy work. And in most cases, a lot more than their male counterparts. So, they formed the “No Club” to get their work life under control and shared their secrets in a book, “The No Club: putting a stop to women’s dead-end work.” One of them talked to Fast Company and shared five key insights to make sure you don’t fall victim. For example, it’s all about expectations. According to a research study women volunteered 50% more than men. That in turn leads fellow workers to ask women to pick up random tasks, such as taking notes during meetings. Another key finding? This is happening everywhere. Across all industries and across all job levels. In some cases, it’s costing women time with their family and leading to health problems.
