There’s been a robbery in Pennsylvania, and everyone’s buzzing about it. I’m Brian Banmiller on Business.

The “giant” company says three beehives with about 60,000 bees have been stolen from their corporate headquarters. The supermarket chain says back in 2020 it introduced a seven acre pollinator friendly field at headquarters. A manager with the company says the idea behind installing the hives was to help address the declining bee population in its community. Especially since bees are an essential part of the food supply chain. Last year, beekeepers in Pennsylvania reported a loss of 41% of their population. And it’s not just a local problem.  About one-third of the country’s food supply relies on bees to pollinate plants. And the dip in population is causing serious concern among experts in agriculture. When it comes to this theft, the giant company is working closely with local police to figure out who stole the bees. The hives were contained inside large boxes which makes them easier to steal and most likely conceal. but keep an eye out for anyone suddenly complaining of a lot of bee stings.
