Are your weekends never long enough?  Enter the four day work week. I’m Brian Banmiller on Business.

Right now, there are two bills making the rounds to shorten the work week to four days. One is in California and the other is a Federal bill. The California bill would cut the week from forty to thirty-two hours for companies with more than 500 employees. It would also make employers pay overtime to those who work more than four days a week. The federal bill would have a similar structure. To give an idea of how it works, about 38 companies in the US and Canada have instituted a four day work week. The CEO of one of them says it has just highlighted how many parts of the week that are just a waste of time. The sponsors of the bill say a shorter week could benefit both employers and employees. A longer weekend could boost morale, the urgency to finish work boosts production and both mean a strong bottom line for the company. Right now, both bills are up for review later this summer. Here’s hoping. Brian Banmiller, CBS News.
