Lots of people are working from home, but not just for one company. I’m Brian Banmiller on business.
Recently the Wall Street Journal spoke to six workers holding down multiple full-time jobs. All of them said it’s a difficult balancing act but one they feel is well worth the doubled salary. One of them is a Data Scientist in Richmond, Virginia who is also teaching an online coding class. He says at one point he was teaching a class when his first boss asked for a video call. So, he told his students to take a break and used his other computer for the video call. Another person says he has attended two meetings at once by using a computer and a phone. Whenever possible he tries to avoid meetings completely by telling people he can answer their questions on slack instead. Employment lawyers tell the wall street journal that holding two jobs doesn’t violate any federal or state laws but could breach any employment contracts you might have signed. One downfall to the double life? You have to be ok being a mediocre worker at both jobs. Brian Banmiller, CBS News
