It’s Super Bowl weekend, and the biggest winner isn’t even on the field. I’m Brian Banmiller on Business.

Thanks to a 2019 trade with CBS, this year NBC is hosting the Super Bowl. And the move made sense because it gave CBS two Super Bowls in three years and the Winter Olympics is also taking place. Since NBC also hosts the games, this means a Super Bowl on CBS wouldn’t compete with that. And so, it means NBC is home to both events, which is a big win for the network. Following the matchup between the Rams and Bengals, television coverage can just roll right into the Winter Olympics, hopefully turning some football fans into snowboarding enthusiasts. The Executive Vice President for Advertising Sales for NBC says they have sold all of their spots for the big game. And rates are up nearly 20% compared to 2018, the last time they aired the game. And advertisers were paying big, with some thirty-second spots going for $7 million. Plus, if ratings for the championship games is an indication, lots of people will be watching.
