A Brief Pause
Listen Now: A Brief Pause
How do you nail a job interview? One manager says it comes down to one thing? I’m Brian Banmiller on Business.
It’s hard to know what will put you ahead of others when applying for a job. Maybe it’s experience, references or answers you give. Or maybe it has nothing to do with what you write down or what comes out of your mouth. Samantha Moss is editor and content ambassador at romantific, a blog about helping women find the right kind of relationship. In an interview with the web site fairy god boss, she said there’s one thing she looks for when interviewing someone, how they pause before answering a question. She says this gives her a strong impression of someone’s interest in the role. The pause reveals how deep in thought the applicant is and if they are serious about getting the job. Someone who doesn’t really care about the job is in a rush to answer. On the other hand, when someone wants the job, they will stop and carefully word their answer. So, take a second to think it out, they’re not going anywhere. Brian Banmiller, CBS News.
