Choco Taco
Listen Now: Choco Taco
Say it ain’t so, the Choco Taco it on its way out. I’m Brian Banmiller on Business.
Much to the dismay of ice cream lovers, Klondike is confirming it plans to discontinue the Choco Taco. The fan favorite is a waffle cone shaped like a taco shell and filled with fudge-swirled ice-cream. It’s finished off by being dipped in chocolate and peanuts. In an email a company representative wrote the company has to make tough decisions to ensure availability of its products nationwide. Unfortunately, that process means pulling the plug on certain products. The reaction was fast and furious. a co-founder of Reddit offered to buy the rights to the ice cream and keep it from quote “melting away from future generations.” A U.S. Senator suggested that the government should force manufacturers to keep making it. No response from the company to either idea. But perhaps not all hope is lost. After realizing people were clearly upset the company tweeted it was working to find a way to bring the Choco Taco back to ice cream trucks in coming years. So, listen out for the familiar jingle.
