Listen Now: Asking for a Raise
[xyz-ips snippet=”post-thumb-url”]
Asking for a raise? Make sure time is on your side.
There is never a moment when someone does not want more money–but there is a moment that will give you a better chance of getting it.
According to Forbes, there are favorable conditions you should look for before approaching your boss.
For example, coming off a big win. If you recently completed a task and brought in better than expected results, it’s time to ask for a performance-based reward. This could be a one-time bonus, or a promotion with a raise. But do not make the mistake of assuming the company is tracking your accomplishments.
Or maybe your department is doing well and is in line for a larger share of next year’s budget. Negotiate with your manager on your personal bump by focusing on how you have contributed to the performance–again, don’t assume your manager will be aware of what you’ve done.
