Listen Now: 99% of People Haven’t Experienced A Natural Sky… Until Now

If you’re a fan of the night sky, you might check out The Great Basin Star Train. The ride starts shortly after sundown in a small town about four hours north of Las Vegas, a city where seeing stars in the night sky is possible.
Rangers from nearby national parks board the train to serve as astronomy guides and then you’re off. The trip will take you about eleven miles east to catch the sunset. It then returns but stops along the way where rangers set up telescopes to help people check out the night sky.
According to a 2016 report, 99% of people in the U.S. and Europe never experience a natural sky. The Star Train wants to show people what they are missing and what people who lived hundreds of years ago saw when they looked at the night sky.
So besides The Star Train, The International Dark Sky Association is working to protect the night skies at seventy parks across the country. And it doesn’t cost anything to look up.
