Listen Now: Facebook Goes Private: Zuckerberg’s New Features To Build Trust

[xyz-ips snippet=”post-thumb-url”]The world’s biggest social media company is working to keep things a little more private.

In a speech this past week to developers, Mark Zuckerberg said the company was going to make a major shift to rebuild trust among users. This comes after multiple reports of user information being sold, private information leaked and russia using the platform for its own agenda.

So how does Facebook plan on keeping things more private? First, messages sent via messenger will be encrypted which means the company won’t be able to see the contents. A feature for Instagram is being tested that will hide how many “likes” a post has received from everyone but the account owner.

A WhatsApp secure payment service being tested in India will be rolled out worldwide. And the app is being redesigned for a quick roll out, starting in the U.S.

In short, Zuckerberg says the future is private and people are going to want to keep their conversations and pictures between smaller groups of people.

He just needs to convince them Facebook is the place to do it.
