A New Bathroom Policy

by | May 21, 2018

A New Bathroom PolicyStarbucks is offering a new amenity; the bathroom.

The coffee giant has announced that its bathrooms, at locations nationwide, are now available to anyone even if you’re not buying a thing. For people in big cities such as San Francisco and New York—where a clean public bathroom is not always close by—the news is a big relief.

The company’s CEO says while he doesn’t want Starbucks locations to become public bathrooms, employees will make the right decision 100% of the time about giving someone the key. He says he doesn’t want anyone at Starbucks to feel they don’t deserve something as simple as using the bathroom.

This comes after recent controversy where a barista called the police on two black men who had been sitting in a philadelphia Starbucks without ordering anything. Now a number of Starbucks locations will also be closed on May 29th, while employees undergo racial bias education. Here’s hoping people don’t take advantage of the new bathroom policy.

When you gotta go, you gotta go, but it’s nice to have a place to go.
