Listen Now: Massive World Cup Win = Hundreds of Free Shots At This Miami Bar
A Miami bar tried to score big with a new promotion; instead it ended up costing big.
The Women’s World Cup is underway in France and fans worldwide are cheering for their home teams. And as with most major athletic events, bars and restaurants are finding ways to cash in on the action.
Ahead of the first game with the U.S. Women’s team, the American Social Bar and Kitchen in Miami took its latest idea to social media. Betting on the fact that most soccer games are low scoring, the bar offered customers free shots for every U.S. goal.
Unfortunately for them, that first match resulted in the U.S. team scoring thirteen goals, the biggest win in world cup history. Thirteen shots for every customer really added up. So now the business is scaling back.
One partner said the “free shots” promotion should not be taken literally, especially when the team is breaking records. So for the next U.S. matches in the tournament, customers should expect just a single drink on the house with a win.
Besides, drinking responsibly is always a good idea.
