Troll DefenseThe internet is an open platform but not everything needs to be shared. Thanks to social media and comment sections everyone with an opinion is now able to share it online. Unfortunately not all of those opinions should be shared and in some cases can be rude or cruel to whoever they are directed at. Now Google is stepping in with a new tool to keep internet trolls under the bridge where they belong. It’s called Perspective API and it allows online publishers to protect people from any comments that might be considered toxic. First it will score a comment from zero to one hundred and perceive the impact that comment might have on the conversation and whether it will cause someone to leave. The publisher can then provide readers with a toxicity level and any comments that don’t fall within the readers selected zone will not be shown. In addition it can give commentators feedback if it determines what they are about to post is toxic. That way people can have a second chance to reconsider their comments. Not everything needs to be shared.
