Travel Hack: How To Find The Best Local Food and Restaurants

by | Jul 12, 2019

[xyz-ips snippet=”post-thumb-url”]When you travel, every meal of your day can be a challenge. So make sure you’re ordering from the right menu.

Andrew Zimmerman is a celebrity chef who has an easy trick to finding the best restaurant in whatever city you visit. He says first, stay away from any restaurant rating sites such as yelp. He says there’s a difference between popular and good, and restaurant sites can leave people disappointed.

Instead, seek out recommendations from people who are in the know when it comes to recommending the city’s best restaurants. Every city has professional foodies, from local chefs to food writers to food editors. All these experts know where the hottest chef is working, which restaurants are about to open and how to find hidden mom and pop places.

But if you’re not in the industry here’s what you do: Find the city’s foodies on social media and follow them for a few days. If you like what they’re tasting then write down the names of the places where they are eating.

That’s better for your tastebuds than following amateurs.
